“Join us on a private tour from Vancouver to Salt Spring Island, where you’ll experience the beauty of the largest and most populous of the Southern Gulf Islands. As the New York Times has described it, Salt Spring Island is “one of the prettiest artist towns in North America,” and you’ll quickly see why. From the stunning scenery to the rich local culture, this tour has something for everyone.
We’ll start by taking a 90-minute ferry ride from Swartz Bay Terminal to Salt Spring Island. Once there, we’ll visit the Salt Spring Vineyards and sample some of the island’s finest wines. Next, we’ll stop at the Salt Spring Island Cheese Company to taste a variety of local cheeses and learn about the production process.
But the highlight of the tour is undoubtedly our whale-watching excursion. We’ll head out into the ocean to learn about endangered species and ecosystems, and we may spot a variety of whales, dolphins, sea lions, and bald eagles. Every adventure is truly unique, as the locations of many animals are determined by tides, weather, time of day, breeding cycles, and food supply.
After the whale-watching tour, we’ll return to the BC Ferries Fulford Harbour Terminal and conclude our tour. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of Salt Spring Island. Book your tour today!”
The Swartz Bay ferry terminal is a 12.1 ha major transportation facility at Swartz Bay in North Saanich, British Columbia. It is located 32 km north of Victoria on Vancouver Island. The terminal is part of the BC Ferries system, as well as part of Highway 17.
Salt Spring Island Cheese Company makes both sheep and goat milk cheeses. Come visit us on the farm where we are located, and sample all of our cheeses. There are windows into every room of our facility, so you can also see the entire cheesemaking process from start to finish.
Salt Spring Vineyards wines are completely handcrafted by Salt Spring residents, from pruning of the vines, selecting the choicest grapes, winemaking, to applying the labels on the bottles. We are convinced that small-scale production, with human nurturing of the wine at each step of the winemaking process, produces a most inspired result. We hope you agree. Our estate wines tend to be dry and crisp, and we are honoured to pair them with Salt Spring and Moonstruck Cheeses, both produced on Salt Spring Island. We are always open Saturdays from noon to five, with daily hours May 1 to September 20.
